Frederick R. Krasselt, 80, of Beach Lake, died on March 20, 2023 at Birchwood Nursing Home and Healthcare in Nanticoke, PA. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, the former Barbara Zwicker Peters. The couple married on February 17, 2002.

Born in Rochester, NY on January 10, 1943, he was the son of the late Frederick and June (Klens) Krasselt. He was a US Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War. Fred later worked for IBM as a programmer in Syracuse and the Hudson Valley. Following his retirement he and Barbara settled in Beach Lake.

In his retirement, Fred quickly became active in the community. He volunteered at the National Park Resource Office in Milanville, helped restore the coal car at the visitors center in Honesdale, and volunteered to help at events at the Doerflinger Museum and the Wayne County Public Library. He and Barbara enjoyed playing Bridge and were members of the American Bridge League. He was also a member at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Honesdale.

Fred enjoyed the outdoors hiking, and canoeing. He also enjoyed golfing and in his younger years, skiing. He also enjoyed working on his model trains.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Erica Hackbart of Brunswick, GA; his step-daughter, Elaine Serdah and husband Nabil of Loganville, GA; his brother, Richard Krasselt of Rochester, NY and several grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27th at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Honesdale at 11 am. Arrangements by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale.
