Frederick F. Weist of Honesdale, died on Saturday, December 3rd after an illness. He and his wife Jane (Graziadio – Salvatore) were married on September 28, 1963.

 

Born on November 1, 1940 in Honesdale, Fred was the son of the late Andrew C. and Margaret Smith Weist and was raised on the family farm. In addition to his wife Jane, he is survived by their children; son John Salvatore and companion Stephanie Payne of Sterling; daughter Susan M. Roegner and husband Thomas of Waymart; and daughter Annette Shepherd and husband Michael of South Canaan; eight grandchildren, Gregory Salvatore of Milanville; Kyle Salvatore and wife Kaelin (Lopresti) of Honesdale; Thomas, Kaitlyn and Madisyn Roegner of Waymart; and Rebekah, Jacob and Katherine Shepherd of South Canaan; and two great grandchildren, Carson and Abraham Salvatore.

 

Mr. Weist is survived by two brothers Joseph and wife Dorothy of La Plata, Maryland;, Andrew and wife Donna of Honesdale and four sisters Angela Davis of Milanville;, Grace Livsey and Husband Joseph of Honesdale; Mary Ann Llwellyn and husband Alan of Orson; and Margaret Daniels of Scranton.

 

After Fred’s graduation from Honesdale Catholic High School in 1958, he joined 109th Infantry of the PA National Guard and was subsequently employed by Kinsman’s, Chroma Tube, the PA Department of Transportation as a surveyor, Moore Business Forms and in 2006 retired from DSFI in Honesdale.

 

Fred most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and took special pride in his yardwork and garden. He was a lifetime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Honesdale, a 39 Year member of the Alert Hook & Ladder Fire Co. #2 and a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Honesdale.

 

The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, December 7th at 10:00 Am at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church at 416 Church Street in Honesdale. Interment will be at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery immediately following the Mass. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 Pm on Tuesday, December 6th at the Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main Street in Honesdale.
