Fred W. Pfeifer, 68, of Equinunk, PA and formerly of East Hanover, NJ, died on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Alberta Ward on November 11, 2004. Born on September 28, 1945 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of H. Fred Pfeifer of Inverness, FL and the late Jean Peterson Pfeifer. Fred was the third generation to run the family business, New Jersey Services Company in Morris County, NJ. Following his retirement, he moved to Equinunk, PA where he and his family built a home and was treasurer of the Fork Mountain Estates. Growing up he was involved in the Boy Scouts of America for many years. An avid fisherman, he enjoyed spending time outdoors and collecting antiques. Fred also enjoyed singing, participating in several church choirs over the years. Also surviving are his sons Fred Pfeifer Jr. of Roseto, PA and Eric Pfeifer and wife Lani of Elk Grove, CA; his daughter Donna Pfeifer of Ontario, CA; a sister Sara Sansone and husband Alfred of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren Jake, Chris, Jeremy, Katie, David and Nico. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Pfeifer. A memorial service will be held at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Saturday, June 7th at 11am.
