Frances L. Shingler

FRANCES L SHINGLER entered into rest on September 26, 2022 surrounded by her son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Peg Lazzari at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale, Pa.  Frances was born in the Bronx, NY on June 9,1935.

She was the daughter of Harry Callahan and Sarah Stewart Callahan.  She had 2 brothers and 1 sister (all predeceased Frances). Frances was married to Robert N Lazzari(deceased) and bore 3 children: Robert (deceased), Richard(deceased) and Edmund.

Upon graduation from High School, Frances spent numerous years of employment as a switchboard operator.  She also served others in the position of a home health care aide. In her middle years, she resided on Long Island, NY and married Ernest Shingler(deceased) who served in the US Navy and worked as a LIRR yardman. In her later years, she spent over a decade creating memories with Dave Brokaw(deceased).

Frances always enjoyed watching animals wander about in nature and was fascinated with wolves! She was a very talented painter especially in the creation of Christmas ornaments and other home décor. She was an active social member of the VFW in Greenville NY where she helped out at various events. Her wit and straightforward demeanor were always entertaining to whomever she met!

Frances is survived by her son Edmund Lazzari and Daughters-in-Law, Peg Lazzari, Linda Lazzari and Sharon Williams; Sister-in-Law, Martha Lazzari and Brother-in-law Donald Lazzari(Ana); Grandchildren: Martha Youngblood(Adam); Emily Albert(Scott); Richard Lazzari(predeceased); Kirsten Lazzari; Gabby Mignone(Jerry); Jenna Lazzari(Dan); Christian Lazzari(Marilyn); Karrissa Lazzari(Ed); Edmund M Lazzari(Erin); and Lauren Rowe(Sam)

Great Grandchildren include: Gavin, Claire, Julia, Evelyn, Anastasia, Anna B, Simeon, Sophia and Mia.

A funeral Mass and Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday October 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St Joseph’s Church and Cemetery at 111 Cottage Street Middletown, NY. Arrangements made by Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale, PA.
