Frances L. Martin

Frances L. Martin, of Youngstown, NY, passed away
peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. She was
97.
Born on July 6, 1929, in Honesdale, Pennsylvania,
Frances was the daughter of the late William Frances
and Lucille Gertrude (White) Lacey. She married
Harold C. Martin in Pennsylvania, and together they
eventually made their home in Western New York,
settling in Youngstown where they raised their family
and built a life rooted in love and dedication.
Frances worked as a toll collector for the New York
State Department of Transportation at the Grand Island
Bridges for an extraordinary 48 years, retiring at the
remarkable age of 89. She was known for her strong
work ethic, warm personality, and the countless
friendships she formed over nearly five decades of
service.
An avid reader, Frances found joy in quiet moments
with a good book, as well as in time spent with her
family. She shared a special bond with her beloved
furry companion, Chloe, who brought her comfort and
companionship in her later years.
In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by
her beloved husband, Harold, who passed away in
1991; her loving son, Harold W. Martin, in 2000; her
sisters, Geraldine Noble, Betty Brussell, and Catherine
Turner; and her brother, William Lacey.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Judi Lynn
(Scott) Macvie; her cherished grandchildren, James
(Kyle) Hoffman III, Lacy (Mike) Hoffman, C.J.
(Alyssa) Boos, David, Karen, Kathy, Debra, and
Pamela Martin; and her adored great-grandchildren,
Brady, Adrianna, Bryce, Warren, and Carter. Frances is
also survived by several nieces and nephews who will
remember her fondly.
There will be no prior visitation. Arrangements are
entrusted to HARDISON FUNERAL HOMES, INC.,
3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville. A private
graveside service will be held in St. Mary Magdalen
Cemetery, Honesdale, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Frances’
honor to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive,
Lockport, NY 14094.
