Florence Lynda Utegg, a life-long resident of Wayne County died on January 29, 2023 at Julia Ribaudo Nursing Center. Her husband William passed away in 1987.

Born on January 6, 1940 at the family homestead in Beach Lake, she was the daughter of the late Aldace and Henrietta M. (Bunnell) Olver. Educated in local schools, she worked for many years in the housekeeping departments of several institutions. Florence loved the country life. She held a special fondness for animals of all sorts. For several years she spent many hours in the Eucharistic chapel of St. John the Evangelist Parish of which she was a devoted member.

She often expressed gratitude to the many people who helped her along her life’s journey, especially the clergy and parishioners of St. John’s, the friends and staff at Maple City Apartments and the Julia Ribado Nursing Center in Lake Ariel.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Vernon, William “Tom,” Duane “Mike,” Leon, Gerald, Arthur and Paul Olver and a sister Esther Racht.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Deborah Olver of Honesdale and Lucy Olver of New Jersey; several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 3rd at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA. Friends may Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Friday, 9 to 9:30.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. John the Evangelist Parish, Honesdale.
