Farrington “Buck” Chauncey Case, 88 of Beach Lake, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Darling Case. The couple married December 24, 1998. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara McCarthy Case on April 3, 1992.

Born on December 31, 1927 in Welcome Lake, he was the son and last surviving member of the Farrington Chauncey Case Sr. and Lillian Mingst Case Fields family.

Buck was a US Navy veteran of World War II serving aboard the USS PC 821 in the Pacific Theater of operations and stationed in Astoria, Oregon Naval Base and Swan Island, Portland Oregon after World War II.

Before his retirement, Buck was a machinist tool maker.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, flying planes and traveling.

A proud veteran, he was a member of the VFW Post 5635 and the American Legion. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, F&AM Lodge #218, Honesdale and Keystone Consistory, Scranton. He was a faithful member of the Beach Lake United Methodist Church.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Brian Case who was killed in a helicopter accident at Opa-Locka, FL while serving in the US Coast Guard on January 17, 1979. He served aboard a helicopter in search and rescue. Also preceding him in death are his 4 brothers and sister-in-laws, Theodore, Kenneth, Leonard (Madelyn Kammerer) and Russell (Ruth Miller); his two sisters Mildred (Normen) Penwarden and Alma (Robert) Miller and his step-father, Judson Fields.

A memorial service will be held at the Beach Lake United Methodist Church on Friday, December 30th at 11am with Pastor Barbara Snyder presiding. The family will receive friends at church, 10 to 10:45 when a Veteran and Masonic service will be held. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. Private interment will be held in Indian Orchard Cemetery in the spring.
