Obituaries » Eugene Brown Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Eugene Patrick Brown, Sr., 73, of Hawley, died on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Shirley Aileo. The couple married on June 16, 1962. Born on March 23, 1943 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Rodney D. Brown Jr. and Margaret Pryor Brown. Eugene received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Scranton in accounting. He later worked at IBM in East Fishkill, NY until his retirement. Eugene enjoyed poker whether he was playing it or watching others play. He was well known for his quirky sense of humor and enjoyed sharing funny stories with his family. He will be remembered as a family man who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. Also surviving are his children Diane White and husband James of Beacon, NY, Kathleen Lane and husband William of Pleasant Valley, NY and Eugene Brown Jr. of Hawley; a brother Carl Brown of Pittsfield, MA; his grandchildren James and Lauren White; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Rodney Brown III. As per his request, cremation will be held and there will be no public services.
