Elizabeth (Betty) Herzog Flynn, 95, of Honesdale, went to be with God on January 24, 2021. Born in Honesdale on March 26, 1925, daughter of the late George J. Herzog, Sr. and Ludwina Balz Herzog. She was a lifelong resident of Honesdale.

She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish where she served as a lector, choir member, director of religious education, and was an original member of the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. She made Rosaries for the missions up until a month before she died. She was a Regional Coordinator and past president of the Altar and Rosary Society; past Regent and District Deputy of Court St. Martin #418, Catholic Daughters of the Americas; member of the Women’s Commission of the Scranton Diocese, and past board member of the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. She was a past coordinator of the Wayne County Food Pantry. She was very proud of the time she went to Rome with St. John’s choir to sing for Pope John Paul II in 1988.

A beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by nine children: Errol (Mary Ann), David (Carol), Mark (Jane) all of Florida; Kathy Highhouse and Clem (Penny) all of Honesdale; Stephen (Jill) and Dan (Pati) of PA; Gary (Karen) of AZ; Mike (Melissa) of CO; 18 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother George Herzog (Ginny) of Honesdale; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Flynn and brother Eugene Herzog.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of her family. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
