Eleanor Louise Hopkins, 84, of Honesdale, died on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Geisinger South Hospital in Wilkes Barre. She is survived by her husband William J. Hopkins, Jr.. The couple married on October 28, 1950 in St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church in Waldwick, NJ. Born on February 26, 1930 in Suffern, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Doremus Eisenhauer. A housewife and loving mother, Eleanor later worked for Weis Market in Hamlin until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Honesdale. She enjoyed being outdoors gardening and attending concerts at Central Park in Honesdale. Over the years, many of her hobbies included crocheting and embroidering. Eleanor loved being with her family and looked forward to their visits. Surviving are her sons William and wife Lori of Hawley, Jeffry and wife Mary Ann of Macungie, Paul of Honesdale and Michael and wife Karen of Lake Ariel; daughters Jo Ann Kent and companion James Kane of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Janet Fullwood and husband John of Lake Ariel; a brother William Eisenhauer and wife Diane of Tallman, NY and a sister Janet Eisenhauer of Suffern, NY; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sister Dorothy Cudahey and infant sister Eula Eisenhauer; a nephew Gary Hopkins. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 8th at 10 am at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
