Edward J. Bayly, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024 at the age of 58, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and selfless service to others.

Born April 14, 1966, in Honesdale, PA, he was the son of the late George W. and Mary E. Bayly. Ed was an air force veteran and a Penn State graduate.

Known for his infectious smile and quick wit, Ed had an extraordinary ability to brighten any room he entered. His children Connor, Kayla, Kathleen, and Christopher were the pride and joy of his life, and he never missed an opportunity to share stories of their accomplishments or support their dreams. Although he worked as a safety manager, his real profession was bringing joy to others. His humor was legendary among friends and family – he never met a dad joke he didn’t like, and his children fondly recall how he could turn even life’s most challenging moments into laughter.

A passionate outdoorsman and dedicated gardener, Ed found peace in nature, whether hiking mountain trails or tending to his bountiful garden. His vegetable patches and fruit trees were a source of immense pride, providing fresh produce that he loved sharing with neighbors, friends, and anyone who stopped by.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bonnie (Byers); four children, (Connor, Kayla, Kathleen, Christopher); his siblings, Richard Bayly, Margaret Lohmann, Mary Carlile, Jean Robey, Donna (Robert) Maynard, Charles Bayly and Karen (William) Buckingham; and many nieces, nephews, and their children.  He is preceded in death by his brother, George Bayly; sister, Kathleen Bayly; and his nephew, Matthew Bayly. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched and in the kindness his children now show to others, carrying forward their father’s spirit of generosity and compassion.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at St Matthew’s Church in East Syracuse, NY from 9-11am, with a funeral Mass at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Ed’s memory by donating to the Clear Path for Veterans organization or by donating blood to your local Red Cross.
