Douglas George Simmons, 77 of Beach Lake, passed away peacefully on Monday July 9,2018.
Born January 27, 1941, he was the son of the late George and Aldonna Simmons. He was a graduate of the Honesdale Catholic school and served in the United States Army.
Doug loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and never missed a dear season or a Green Bay Packers game. Doug owned and operated the Beech Nut bar and restaurant for many years. He was a manager at the Honesdale K-Mart for 27 years and loved doing the Blue Light Specials.
He enjoyed spending time with is fiancé, Rosemary Spellman.
In addition to Rosemary, Doug is survived by his daughters Kristen Soden and husband Dan of West Creek, NJ and Shannon Kreider and husband Dean of Hunlock Creek, PA; his grandchildren Hunter Douglas Lefkoski of Honesdale and Hannah Farrington of West Creek, NJ. Also surviving is his sister Donna Zigmantanis and husband Jack of Glen Gardner, NJ and his brother Gary Simmons and wife Diane of Honesdale.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 16th at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Beach Lake at 10am. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Sunday, July 15th, 4 to 6.
