Dorothy Rietta Crum, 96, of Honesdale, died on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at home with her family by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Kenneth V. Crum, Sr. on March 30, 2026.

Born on April 27, 1930 in Pompton Lakes, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Hopper) Snover. After she and Ken were married, they moved to Oregon Township to start their lives together.

Dot, along with her husband, owned and operated a thriving farm on Siko Road, where they dedicated their lives to raising dairy and beef cattle. Her unwavering commitment to both farm chores and her family’s well-being exemplified her boundless strength and nurturing spirit.

A faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and a beloved choir member at St. Joseph’s Church in Rileyville, Dot shared her love of music and faith with those around her. She was also a member of the former Pleasant Valley Grange.

In addition to her farming and family duties, Dot was a creative soul. She enjoyed quilting, painting, and often rearranging the furniture in her home to create inviting spaces. In her younger years, she found joy in riding horses, an activity that brought her much happiness.

Surviving is her family, Kristine Bristow and husband Richard of VA, Maedine Woods of Honesdale, Kenneth V. Crum Jr. and wife Suzanne of Honesdale, Patricia Rossbach and husband Charles of Honesdale, Walter Crum and wife Julie of Honesdale, Pamela Steffen and husband Peter of Hawley, Jacqueline Egan and husband Ron of WI and Matthew Crum and wife Jen of Honesdale. She is also survived by 36 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anna Lee Crum; her son-in-law Duane Woods; her brothers, Raymond “Bud” Snover Jr. and Daniel Snover; her sisters, Ann Diggles and Helen “Susie” Perrera.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 16th at St. Joseph’s Church in Rileyville at 10 am. Interment will follow in East Dyberry Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday, 4 to 6.
