Doris Weaver, 89, of Honesdale, died on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Regional Hospital in Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald B. Weaver on May 7, 1996.

Born on December 18, 1931 in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Wanda (Pienkowsky) Sulitzky. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, she worked at Jack L. Honig in New York designing children’s clothing. After working there for 35 years, she retired.

Following her retirement, she Donald settled in the Honesdale area. She became a Master Gardener and was a founding member of The Country Gardener’s. Doris was passionate about wildflowers and hosta’s were her specialty. She loved all of natures beauty and animals. She was also a member of the Pleasant Valley Grange and the South Canaan Free Methodist Church. An avid reader, she was a member of Friends of the Library.

Surviving is her daughter, Donna Landon and husband Chuck of Newfoundland; her son Douglas Weaver of Williamsville, NY; and her granddaughter Cassandra Burney stationed in Athens, Greece.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 13th at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at 7 pm. Friends may visit on Monday, 4 until the time of service. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr., Honesdale, PA 18431 or the Wayne County Public Library, 1406 Main St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
