Doris C. (Johannes) Millon, 88, of Honesdale, died on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart.

Born on July 18, 1930 at the family home in Cherry Ridge, she was the daughter and last surviving member of the Walter and Edith Belknap Johannes family. Doris grew up on the family farm in Cherry Ridge and attended the Cherry Ridge Schoolhouse.

Doris held many positions during her working years which included working at Wayne Memorial Hospital with Dr. Propst in the Emergency Room. She later worked at Chroma Tube for many years. Doris retired in 1986 from Wayne Highlands School District where she was the fist woman custodian. She loved working in the school and enjoyed being around the students. She cared so much about the kids and took such great pride in her job, with (which also included)washing the sports uniforms that she would occasionally take home and hang on her clothesline to make them smell fresh.

A talented cook and baker, she was well known for her famous apple pies that she would bake in bulk for family and friends. In recent years, Doris enjoyed volunteering at the Wayne County Area on Aging where she was able to spend time with friends and help others.

Surviving are her sons Jerome Millon and companion Gwyn of Lancaster, Dennis Millon and companion Jerry of Prompton, and Gary Millon and companion Kathy of Cherry Ridge; daughters Arlene Bilko and husband Dave of Camden, NY and Leann Wash and husband Steve of Lake Ariel; grandchildren Ronald Millon and wife Kerri, Cody and Cooper Wash; a great granddaughter Ella Millon; several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her cat Blue.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Earl, Carl, Everette, Milton, Cyril, Clyde, Irving and Louis Johannes and her sister Mildred Swartz.

As per her request, cremation will be held and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am on Tuesday, January 29th. Arrangements by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale.
