Donald W. Risse, 91, of Williamsport, PA and formerly of Honesdale, died on Monday, November 2, 2015 at Divine Providence Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, the former Elizabeth R. Stegner, RN on January 5, 2006. The couple married on February 13, 1948.

Born on January 2, 1924 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Teresa Barbieri Risse. He was a graduate of Honesdale Catholic High School. Later he graduated from the Kettering Institute and General Motors Institute. Mr. Risse also served with distinction in the United States Air Force as a gunner on a B52 during World War II.

Later in his life, he was employed by Kemper Insurance Agency as an adjuster for forty years.

Surviving are his two daughters Barbara Lynn and Tim Kerwell and Dr. Joanne Hostrander, Ph.D RN Board Certified and her husband Frederick Hostrander; grandchildren Christine Stoner, RN, Valarie Anderson, James and Beth Egan, RN, Michael William and Nicole Bloom, Michael and Sarah Gilbride, RN; 10 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 5th at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale at 10:30. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Thursday, 9 to 10.
