Diane Rae Mott, passed away peacefully at her home on Har-V-Hill on Sunday, October 24, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Diane was born on June 14, 1952 in Honesdale to Alton and Shirley Stegner Harvey. She is survived by her husband Paul of 35 years. Also survived by her sisters, Joan (Michael) Donofry, Jan (Tim) Kohrs and her nephews Jason and Jonathan Donofry all of Dyberry, and her aunts, Patsy (Dan) Guinther, Honesdale and Marion Plucknett, Owensboro, Kentucky. Also surviving are her sister-in-laws Mary, Betty, Lois and Lillian, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Diane was predeceased by her parents Alton and Shirley Stegner Harvey, Aunt Dorie Wilmarth and her beloved niece Janine Maree Donofry.
Diane was employed by the Wayne Highlands School District for over 48 years until her death. Diane was Payroll Administrator and Human Resources Administrator. She offered valued retirement/fringe benefit counsel/advice to hundreds of employees of Wayne Highlands School District. She also spent 35 years as the School Board Secretary.
She was also a long time director of the Wayne County Fair. She spent the last 42 years as the treasurer. Her love of the fair was evident and she played a key role in this organization.
She also served as treasurer for Dyberry Township for the last 10 years.
Diane was always there for her family and friends. She always put their well being first. She was an amazing wife, sister, aunt and friend to many.
For several years she was involved with the Wayne County Relay for Life and leading her team, the Forget-Me-Nots, in raising money for the American Cancer Society.
In her free time she enjoyed reading, sewing, cross stitch, antiquing, shopping and spending time with her loved ones.
She was a life-long member of the Bethany United Methodist Church.
Diane’s family would like to thank all the home health and hospice nurses, especially Ginny Fries for their compassion and care.
A memorial service will be held at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday, Nov. 3rd at 10 am. Friends may visit on Tuesday, Nov. 2nd, 4 to 7.
