David, “Duck” Sherwood, 56, passed away suddenly on March 16, 2018, at his lifelong home in Cherry Ridge Township, Pennsylvania. Duck was born on August 25, 1961. He was the son of the late Wilson Sherwood and the late Louise Hartman Sherwood.
Duck was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1979.
After graduating from High School, Duck was employed by Wayne Bank as a collection manager. In the most recent years Duck was a “Gentleman Farmer” and enjoyed tending to the family property and fish ponds. He enjoyed growing his “hot peppers” and sharing his bounty with all who dared to try them. Without a doubt his greatest joy was time spent with his friends debating the current events of the day. He enjoyed challenging the sports writers at the New York Post with many of Duck’s opinions being published in the Post.

Duck was an avid and talented sportsman. While attending Honesdale High School he played basketball as well as Varsity Baseball for the Hornets.
After graduation he played and managed the Wagon Wheel Softball team in the Wayne County Softball League and played for Ronny’s Ringers in the Delaware Valley Softball League. Duck also served as the Wayne County Softball League’s President for many years. Additionally Duck played and excelled in the Wayne County Men’s Pool League as a member of the White Mills Hotel, Wagon Wheel and CC Lounge teams winning many championships over his long career. He was a past President of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge in Honesdale. Duck was one of the areas most devoted sports fans and was extremely passionate about his beloved Boston Red Sox. He will be missed by those who loved him and by those that he challenged.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his sister Maxine Davis and her husband Ron of Lake Ariel, nephews Mark Davis and wife Debby, and Matthew Davis, grandnephew Wilson and wife Stephanie and their son Mason, grandnephew Wyatt Davis and grandniece Megan Blowers and husband Cory Blowers and their son Jack, and Yogi, Duck’s loyal yellow Lab.
As per Duck’s wishes, a Celebration of Life, will be held at Tick Tocks Bar and Restaurant, located at 760 Terrace Street in Honesdale, on Saturday March 31 at 2:00 pm. Private interment will be in Darling Cemetery.
