Daniel Herman “Wolfie” Wolfe, 71, of Union Dale, died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was born on April 29, 1943 in Orson, PA, and was the last surviving member of the Herman and Marion Utter Wolfe family. He was a graduate of Hancock High School and helped on the family farm while growing up. He retired from Waste Management in 2010 where he was a CDL truck driver. He was also a member of the former Orson Methodist Church. Wolfie enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading, relaxing on the family farm and spending time with his “girls”. He was a faithful giver, who always put others before himself. He is survived by his close family friends Carey Counterman and husband Shane of Hawley and their children Isabella and AnaLeigh; along with many other close friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers Gary and Lester Wolfe. As per his request cremation will be held. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 17th at 11am at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. Friends may visit Saturday from 10 to service time. Private interment will be in Orson Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Dr. Honesdale, PA 18431.
