Brian C. O’Neill, 77, of Honesdale, died on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Carol Dapper. The couple married on May 20, 1961. Born on August 12, 1937 in Binghamton, NY, he was the son and last surviving member of the Leo and Annette Malia O’Neill family. Following his graduation from Pleasant Mount High School, Brian helped on the family farm in Mount Pleasant Township. Later he worked for the Dairymen’s League as a milk inspector and a plant manager in Cobleskill, NY and retired from Narrowsburg Lumber. Brian enjoyed nature and hunting, especially archery. He and his wife traveled to many national parks throughout the country. He was well known as the cook for the family making many meals and baking many treats and pies. Surviving are his sons Michael O’Neill of Beach Lake and Brian O’Neill of Honesdale; his daughters Debbie O’Neill and companion John Golden of Honesdale and Kathy Reser and companion Ben Ernst of Plymouth, PA; grandchildren Juliann and Hillarie Reser; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Leo, Walter, and John O’Neill and a sister Patricia Gardner. As per his request, cremation services are being arranged by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. Interment will be in the spring in St. Cecelia’s Cemetery, Hilltop. Memorial contributions can be made to Wayne Memorial Hospice, 601 Park St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
