Thomas “Barry” Gill, 73, of Vero Beach, FL and Honesdale, PA, died unexpectedly on Monday, August 6, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Shirley Mancuso Gill. The couple married on April 29, 1989.

Born on May 26, 1945 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Raphael “Babe” and Nan Crane Gill. He was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, class of 1963. He later served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

For 25 years, Barry was a Pennsylvania State Trooper and later worked on his own as a private investigator.

An avid outdoorsman, Barry enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Scrub Oak Hunting Club. He enjoyed golfing and was a former member of the Honesdale Golf Club. An avid sports fan, Barry enjoyed cheering for Penn State Nittany Lion, the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Yankees.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Michael Gill of Waymart; his daughter Shannon Gill of Waymart; step-daughters Kimberly Langendoerfer and husband Stephen of Honesdale, Robyn Mason and husband Steve Davis of Honesdale, and Tracey Floyd and husband Jeffrey of NC; a step-son Ron Mason of Utah; his brother Paul Gill and wife Tootsie of Forest City; nieces Theresa Barna and Nancy Gill; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving is his loving dog, Pippa.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 11th at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at 11am. The family will receive friends on Saturday 9:30 until the time of service. Private interment will be in Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Finch Hill at the convenience of his family.

Memorial contributions can be made to the donors favorite charity.
