Arnold T. Bertsche, born on May 17, 1926, the 9th child of Arnold J. Bertsche and Elizabeth Sullivan Bertsche. Arnold was born in Elmira, New York and moved to a small mining town of Antrim, PA. Arnold graduated Wellsboro High School early to join the Navy during WWII. While in the Navy, he had such experiences as escorting Japanese POW’s, participating in the atom bomb testing and being aboard a sinking ship. After the Navy, Arnold married the love of his life, Shirley Enyedy. Arnold then attained employment at Remington Rand as a machinist/mechanic, attended Morrisville University, and was eventually hired by Moore Business Forms. In 1967, Arnold, Shirley and their three children moved to Honesdale, PA, where Arnold eventually became the manager of maintenance and waste departments. Arnold was very active in the Honesdale community and many organizations. He was instrumental in WIDCO, Honesdale Co 1 Fire department and was a 3rd degree Knight in Hawley and a Fourth degree Knight in Honesdale Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the St. John the Evangelist RC Church, Honesdale and was one of the original members of the Perpetual Adoration. Arnold was known for his sense of humor, hard work, and the love of family, and was always close to all of his 7 sisters and brother, visiting them as often as he could. Arnold always had many stories and smiles of how he grew up and his life experiences. But, all that knew Arnold will miss his wit and wonderful smile, and the women will remember his flirting. Arnold is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, as well as seven sisters and his brother. Arnold is survived by his sister, Gena Johnson, Elmira, NY. He is also survived by his children, Arnold E Bertsche, and wife Debbie, Honesdale; Mark S. Bertsche and his wife Peg, Lincoln, NE; and Elizabeth Rose and husband Joseph. As well as, 6 grandchildren, Ryan Bertsch, Jacksonville, FL; Kyle Bertsche and wife Shannon, California; Maggie Bertsche, Denver, CO; Kathleen Rose, Elizabethtown, PA; Jacqueline Henderson and husband Steven, Stockholm Sweden; and Daniel Rose, Lititz, PA.
