Ann R. Morgan, RN, 89, of Hawley, died on Thursday, October 7, 2022 at Geisinger CMC Scranton.

Born on October 21, 1932 in Honesdale, she was the daughter and last surviving member of the late William A. and Margret (Wildes) Morgan family. She graduated from Hawley High School, class of 1950 and in 1953 graduated from Hahnaman Hospital School Of Nursing.

She began working at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale as well private duty nursing. Ann worked here entire career at Wayne Memorial. She volunteered for the Hawley Lions Club. She was elected to the Hawley Borough Council in 1975 and became Mayor in the late 1970’s, a position she held until 2012. She was also a Deputy Coroner for Wayne County, Chairperson Of the Hawley Sesquicentennial, Republican Committee of Wayne County, Order of the Eastern Star, Hawley Lions Club and other organizations.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William A. Morgan, JR. She is survived by her son Richard W, and wife Angela of Lackawaxen; her grandson Richard W., Jr. and wife Jennifer of Archbald; her granddaughter, Natasha N. Morgan-Doty and husband Jonathan Doty of Lackawaxen; four great grandsons Gerard Mcgrath, Peyton Mcgrath, Matthew Morgan and Zachary Morgan. She is also survived by two nieces and a nephew.

Ann was known for her devotion to community service. She was also known for her caring for people of all ages. She was of the Lutheran Faith.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 14th at 10 am with calling hour from 9am to 10am  at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hawley.  Interment will follow in Green Gates Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, 4 to 7 at the Hessling Murray Funeral home, 428 Main Street, Honesdale.

In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be set up in Ann’s name at The Dime Bank.
