Alvin Delmont Ruff Jr. passed away peacefully on his 44th birthday, April 5th, at home with his family by his side. Alvin was a skilled, hard-working, self-employed tile mechanic who graduated with honors from Eastchester high school. He received his associates degree in sports management from Sullivan County Community College. Alvin battled this cancer with courage, grace, and strength. He was tireless in his dedication to his family. He was charismatic and radiated positivity. A huge Mets and Jets fan, he was fun-loving, and laughed easily. He loved few things more than disc golfing with his six-year-old son, Canyon. Ever the role model, Alvin showed Canyon how it’s done – winning tournaments and awards often. Alvin is survived by his wife, Mia Mizwinski; son, Canyon Ruff; daughters, Taylor Spencer and Kiera Hendel; his mother and father, Maria and Robert Hyde; sisters, Donna Miller, Bernadette Miller, Lisalotta Shepard, and Bridget Wilcox; brother, Andy Ruff; step brother, Joel Murns and numerous nieces and nephews. Alvin was predeceased by his grandparents, Harold and Lieselotte Nystrom, Robert and Lillian Hyde; Grandmother, Mary Griffin; and grandfather, Delmont Ruff. We will have a memorial service, honoring our amazing father, husband, brother, son, nephew, uncle, and friend. All are welcome to join us on Saturday, April 14th from 1:00PM – 3:00PM at the Delaware Youth Center, 8 Creamery road, Callicoon, NY 12723. We encourage you to wear tie-dye, Mets, or Jets attire.
