Davies, 89, peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday 22 September 2024 surrounded by his family. Alonzo, a US Marine Corps Veteran who served in the Korean War, resided in Hawthorne for the past 55 years. He worked as an Auxiliary Police Officer in Bogota, NJ before working for Grand Union. After working for 36 years he filled his retirement with family, hobbies and travel. He had a love for aviation, which included building a plane with his brother. Other passions included hunting and spending time at Strawberry Hill, riding his motorcycle (his last big ride was the Blue Ridge Parkway). He spent years traveling and camping across the United States with his family. Al was an avid reader and movie fan. His routine included Sunday morning breakfast at Dee’s Luncheonette. A man of few words that spoke volumes is missed by all who knew and loved him, especially his pups Kaylee and Emma. Alonzo is survived by his partner Diane Badaracco (Hawthorne, NJ), daughter Kathleen Davies and partner Billy VanderWeit (Wyckoff, NJ), Jeanette Hammeran and husband Curt (Newton, NJ), Alonzo D. Davies and wife Wendy (Surprise, AZ), Edward Davies and wife Alexis (Kinnelon, NJ), eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings; Diane Cartwright (Walden, NY), Charles Davies and wife Carolyn (Damascus, PA), Bette Ann Bearenklau and husband Al (Beach Lake, PA). Predeceased by wife Jane M. (Case) Davies, parents Charles Francis Davies and Marie Elizabeth Davies, son Brian Davies, daughter Lu-Anne Tenkate, and daughter Susan Lewis. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2nd in Indian Orchard Cemetery at noon.
