Albert J. Mongovan, 86, of Honesdale died on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Pfeiffer Mongovan on August 1, 2013.

Born on October 31, 1935 at the family home in Cherry Ridge, he was the son of the late Thomas and Flora Hazen Mongovan. He was previously employed at Banner and later S.J. Bailey and Sons, from which he retired. Albert enjoyed spending time at the Cherry Ridge Fishing Club, hunting, cutting wood and spending time with his family.

Albert is survived by three brothers, Thomas, Robert, and Paul and his wife Karen; daughters, Wendy Mongovan Ward and companion Douglas Hector and Debbie Mongovan Aesch and husband John; sons, Dale Mongovan and wife Angel and Darryl Mongovan. Grandchildren, Christopher Smith, Christina Frammigen, Sarah Smith and companion Jimmy, Brooke Mongovan and companion Ken, Cody Mongovan and Sierra Lord Davis and husband Wyatt; nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Mongovan Saar.

Albert’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Wayne Memorial Hospice for their care and compassion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 19th at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Honesdale at 10 am. Interment will follow in Darling Cemetery. Friends may visit Hessling Murray Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale on Wednesday, 5 to 7.
