Lois Mary Curran

Lois Mary Curran, 89, formerly of Main Street Honesdale and resident at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart, PA, died on February 18, 2017 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born in White Mills, PA, she was the daughter of James and Lillian Mae Ritter Curran on October 4, 1927. She was a graduate of Honesdale High School and worked as a seamstress for Waymart Knitting until retiring.

Lois was an elegant lady who loved to entertain and enjoyed cooking for relatives and friends. During her years, she also provided for her nieces and nephews.

As a member of St. John’s Evangelist Parish, Honesdale, and its Altar and Rosary Society. A note of interest, she worked as a cook in the kitchen for the late, Pastor of St. John’s Church, Father Kane.

Surviving are brothers John Curran of Palm Dessert, CA and Pete Curran of Bloomsburg, PA; and several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Langan, Kathryn Gray, June VanDeusen, and Sister Mary Teresa; brothers, James, Vincent, Gerald, Edward, Joseph, Leo and George Curran.

Cremation was held at the Maple Hill at Salem Crematory, Archbald, PA. Services will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 10:00am at St. John’s Church, Terrace Street, Honesdale, PA. Interment will be at a later date. Arrangements by the Hessling Funeral Home, Inc, 428 Main Street, Honesdale, PA.
