Janet Sheard Loring, 91, of Honesdale, PA, passed away peacefully early on Friday, June 30th 2017.
Born on January 22nd, 1926 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Otsego and Florence Warren.
Janet was a graduate of Honesdale High School in 1944 and followed with nurses training at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1947 and worked for Wayne Memorial Hospital for 44 years.
Her husband, Howard W. Loring, precedes her in death in 1986. They were married May 1, 1949 in Honesdale and enjoyed 37 years of marital bliss.
Nursing was her calling, starting out in the Court Street location of Wayne Memorial, with a nurturing heart she worked with patients to give them the best care. She was a member of the Private Duty Nurses Association, and an alumni member of the Moses Taylor Hospital Association.
Janet was active in the Central United Methodist Church of Honesdale being a member for over 75 years. She enjoyed church events and Sunday services. Janet also enjoyed gardening and would often be found in her yard with a variety of flowers to brighten the seasons. In colder months she enjoyed quilting and would often have a quilt project she was working on for her family. She held family gatherings at her house in Honesdale with family being of great importance.
Surviving are; Sister, Ann Kinsman of Honesdale; Sons David and wife Donna Loring of Bethlehem, PA, Don and wife Candy Loring of Pittston, PA, Daughter Denise Loring of Manassas, VA. Other survivors are Grandchildren; Jonathan Loring, Jeremy and wife Melissa Loring, Joshua and wife Elicia Loring, Rebecca and husband Dan Brown, Timothy Loring, and Jessica Loring, along with 7 great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews and cousins survive Janet.
She was preceded in death by a brother Wallace Warren, a sister and husband Elizabeth and Merv Iloff, and a brother-in-law Robert Kinsman.
Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main Street in Honesdale, 2-5pm, Sunday, July 2nd. Pastor Rob Kazinski of the Central United Methodist Church will lead the celebration of life for Janet on Monday, July 3rd, starting at 10am, at the church. Interment will follow at the Calkins Union Cemetery, Calkins, PA.
