James Cease, 51, of Beach Lake, died July 10, 2017 in a tragic accidental drowning. Jim was a lifelong resident of the area, grew up in Honesdale, and as an adult settled in Beach Lake.

Growing up, Jim didn’t care much for school but found he had talent for baseball and auto restoration. He stuck with cars. It is well known that Jim was a bit stubborn about going to the doctor and raised hell in his younger years always loving a good party.

Jim also liked a good story and had many. Friends and family often heard Jim tell tale of his hunting adventures, fishing a favored hole, the purchase of a new gun, or testing a fast car.

It was rumored he had a knack for brewing beer and making hard cider. Jim also raised chickens and rabbits, had faithful canine companions and made a home for his daughter Brooke. Proud dad, always a sparkle in his eye bragging of her accomplishments; first steps, good grades and her quick mastery of all those dang electronics.

Jim is survived by Brooke, whom he loved beyond measure, his brothers, Steve and Tom, grandfather Steve Bush and uncle Lester Kerstetter.

Friends may visit Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale on Monday, August 7th, 5 to 7. A memorial service will be held at 7pm.
