Isabella “Izzy” Grace (Martin) Polt, 101, of Honesdale, died on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center in Honesdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Polt on June 13, 1978.

Born on July 12, 1916 in Montreal, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Emily Goodman Martin. Her father owned a glass cutting factory in Montreal. At the age of 17 months, her family returned to the Honesdale area. After graduating from Honesdale High School, she worked at Woolworth Department Store in Honesdale until she and Bob married. A loving mother and housewife, Isabel later worked at Rothrock’s Silversmith Co. in Honesdale.

Isabel was a life member of the Texas #4 Auxiliary and a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Honesdale.

She is survived by her son William Robert Polt and wife Kathleen of Waymart; her daughter Judith Eppley of Reynoldsville, PA and Honesdale; her grandchildren Jennifer Bednar and husband Kevin of Cherry Ridge, Donald A. Polt of Honesdale, Vincent D. Polt of Waymart, Robert W. Polt and wife Laura of Virginia Beach, VA, Michael E. Polt and wife Maureen of Chesapeake, VA, Carl Eppley Jr. and wife Joann, Kevin Eppley, Jason Eppley and wife Janiese all of Reynoldsville, PA. Also surviving are her great grandchildren Jonathon Bishop of Wilmington, NC, Jessica Polt of Eynon, Julia Polt of Damascus, Madison Polt of Honesdale, Jason Jr., Brandon and Kevin Eppley Jr. all of Reynoldsville, Victoria Bednar and Kevin Bednar Jr. of Honesdale and two great great grandchildren, Bailey Bishop of Wilmington, NC and Willow Rose Carpenter of Eynon and eight nephews and nieces and sister-in-law Alice Martin.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers George W. Martin Sr. and wife Mary, Robert F. Martin and wife Alice and Edward L. Martin and wife Aileen all of Honesdale, and her son-in-law Carl Eppley Sr. of Reynoldsville.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28th at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale at 11 am. Interment will follow in Indian Orchard Cemetery. Friends may visit on Saturday, 9 until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the donors favorite charity.
