Douglas Lee Tyler, 58, of Honesdale, died on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, the former Annette Price. The couple married on June 19, 2016.

Born on January 20, 1959 in Callicoon, NY, he was the son of the late Francis L. and Eleanor L. Stevenson Tyler. Doug was a graduate of Honesdale High School, class of 1976 and later attended Lincoln Tech.

Doug began working at B&B Dodge in Honesdale before he started over the road trucking. He later owned and operated Doug Tyler Trucking and continued doing what he loved until taking ill.

Known as “Putz” to his close friends, Doug enjoyed putzing around his garage working on his antique cars and helping his friends on their cars. Keeping busy made Doug happy. He also enjoyed playing pool and socializing with friends and making new friends. He and Annette loved traveling the back roads and finding new places to go. It also made Doug happy watching his grandsons play on the four wheelers.

Also surviving is his son Cody Lee Smith of Waltham, MA; his step-daughters Natalie Cottell and husband Adam, Katelyn Iloff and husband Nick all of Honesdale and Whitney Owen and husband Zak of VA; brothers Gerald Tyler and wife Denise of Port Aransas, TX and Corey Tyler of Honesdale; grandsons Ben, Mason, Sawyer and Levi Iloff, Wyatt and Tanner Cottell, and Jak and Noah Owen.

As per his request, cremation services are being arranged by Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25th at Prairie Hill Hunting Club on Route 191 N. of Honesdale, noon until 3pm.
