Rev. Darlene M. Teeple Miller, 64, of Honesdale and Pastor of Churches of the Equinunk United Methodist Charge, died on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne George Miller, Sr. on August 16, 1983. The couple married on April 24, 1971.

Born on June 9, 1952 in Phillipsburg, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Calvin W. and Margaret Kahrs Teeple. She was a graduate of Wallenpaupack High School. Later, Darlene owned and operated several small businesses, The Mustard Seed in Lancaster, PA and Gazebo Gifts in White Mills and Honesdale. She later was the assistant to the director at Delaware Valley Job Corp in Callicoon, NY.

She entered into ministry in 2007 and served as Pastor for the Churches of the Equinunk United Methodist Charge until taking ill last year. As pastor, she loved serving her community, volunteering at the Wayne County Public Library Literacy Program and Habitat for Humanity.

Darlene loved to read and listen to music. She loved her family and served as secretary for the Teeple-Layton family reunion for many years.

Surviving is her son Wayne Miller and wife Jennifer Jarson of Mertztown, PA; her daughter Laura Miller Perry and husband Scott of Honesdale; her brother Calvin Howard Teeple of White Mills; sisters Rosemary Bellen and husband William of Maryland, NY and Rhonda Teeple Lazzeri and husband Peter of Sebastian, FL; a step-grandson Cody Perry; nieces and nephews, Danielle Haney, Maggie Bellen, Shelby Giblin, Ronnie Giblin and Jack Lazzeri.

She was preceded in death by her nephew Cal Tennant and sister-in-law Marion Teeple.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 7th at Hessling Funeral Home, Inc., 428 Main St. Honesdale, by her sister, Pastor Rose Bellen at 11am. Friends may visit on Monday, 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pine Mill Cemetery.
